Merry Christmas… Yesterday on our long trip I was very hungry in the car. We left without eating breakfast since we were going to have brunch at my mothers. Well with the time zone thing and then the saving Christmas incident it was 12:30 our time before we would reach our destination. My daughter Bailey who is 12 grabbed a candy bar at the gas station. She asked me if I wanted a bite and clearly I did. She gave me like 1/2 of her candy bar. A couple minutes later she asks if I want another bite. Wow how nice of her… then she blurts out “Sharing Makes It Taste Better Daddy” Awwww It Warmed My Heart!

Today we were traveling to the Chicago area to visit my mother and family for Christmas. The weather outside was frightful, but the heated seats were delightful! About 2 hrs into the trip, our Hummer ”reindeer sleigh” needed to be fed (Gas). So we got off on an exit that had signs for gas stations. Well I guess the economy was so bad in that area that the two gas stations at that exit were boarded up. As I’m turning around I notice a poor guy in a trailblazer stuck in the ice of the parking lot of one of the gas stations. The parking lot looked like a rutted ice field with 2-3 inches of ice covered in rain water that was coming down pretty good at that time. The temperature was in the 30′s and it was a mess. So I made the decision to head into the lot and try to help out. I paused for a second…”Will I get stuck too?” But took the risk. It was a college student heading home for the holidays to see his parents. We didn’t have anything to tow him out, but in the lot there were some abandoned tires. We put them between the bumpers and pushed him out of the ruts that he was stuck in. Then we chopped away the Ice from around the tires so he could get a little traction on his own to get some momentum built up to get out of the lot. After about 30min and having frozen soaking wet feet from the 2 inches of water that was on top of the ice we got him on his way. He told us that he was about to give up when we got there. So it was a great day for everyone… “God bless us everyone” as Tiny Tim would say…. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
